Dear Lisa,

The UNESCO Office for the Pacific States based in Apia, Samoa is inviting Expressions of Interest from Pacific broadcasting media organizations to participate at the International Conference on Broadcast Media & Climate Change at the UNESCO HQ in Paris from the 4th – 5th September, 2009.

The aim of the Conference is to highlight the public-service remit of broadcast media in raising awareness on climate change, and to increase cooperation between national broadcasters.

For more information and to register your participation, please visit:

www.unesco.org/webworld/en/media-cliamte-change

The UNESCO Apia Office has adopted a Climate Change Intersectoral Platform with a key result of contributing to small island responses to coping with climate change through the application of scientific and local knowledge in policy, education and awareness raising.

The Apia Communication & Information (CI) Sector with the Secretariat for the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA) organized 2 Pacific Media and Climate Workshops in 2008 and 2009.
