EPMU TO LAUNCH WALKLEY MAGAZINE PACKAGE
www.epmu.org.nz/print-media/

AUCKLAND (EPMU/Pacific Media Watch): The Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union (EPMU), representing 3500 media workers, and Chris Warren from the Australian Media Alliance (MEAA) are holding two events for all journalists this month to launch The Walkley magazine as part of the package that will come with EPMU membership for all New Zealand journalists from this month.

The Walkley is Australia's journalism magazine which covers professional and craft issues for journalists, published five times a year: www.walkleys.com

The aim is for the magazine to include at least two articles from a New Zealand perspective. It has also published Pacific articles.

In the February edition, Brent Edwards writes about the Journalism Matters campaign and Gael Woods reports on the debate on how name suppression and contempt of court should apply to bloggers.

We hope the magazine will not only inform journalists here but also provoke a wider debate about the role of journalism and how we practise it in New Zealand and Australia.

Chris Warren will speak at both launch events on "Challenges facing journalism":

•       Wellington: Monday, 22 Feb, 6pm-8pm, venue to be confirmed.

•       Auckland: Tuesday, 23 Feb, 6pm-8pm, upstairs at the Shakespeare, corner of Albert St & Wyndham St. Free drinks on the bar.
