2009/10/23 Lisa Williams-Lahari <lisa.lahari@gmail.com>

Kia Orana tatou,

Some of you have already been directly in touch with me on this but I
also wanted to do a broader shout out.

At the moment I am lucky enough to be a Pacific scholarship recipient
of the University of Otago in NZ, for an MA in Pacific Island Studies.
My thesis work is on Pacific women, pacific media, pacific way, and
unsurprisingly, aims to scope the situation of Pacific women in the PI
media networks.

My fieldwork is online, and will be done in a few key ways:

1. An online survey for media managers, which is already in swing.
2. An online survey for Pacific women in the media, for which I am
seeking respondents
3. A general online survey for all journalists in Pacific media, for
which I am seeking respondents.
4. Two moderated discussion groups: one for women in the media, one
for all of us.

Because its for thesis work, I am not using our networks to run the
discussion or surveys, but am seeking a call for interest from
individuals who want to participate in an open, frank, and historic
discussion on how YOU perceive and experience your working situations
as journalists, and whether you think there is or isnt ineqaulity in
our newsrooms.

To participate, please just hit FORWARD on this email and put
lisa.lahari@gmail.com in the To box, then hit send. I will be in touch
with you on the details, ethics forms, and process.

The confidentiality of all survey participants in the Pacific women,
Pacific media, Pacific Way study is respected, and we also have a
method for respecting confidentiality in the two group discussions.

I invite and welcome your participation and ask that you forward this
message to others who may be interested.

Thank you all,

Lisa
