The Suspension of Fiji from the Commonwealth and CBA membership in Fiji

Following consultation with the CBA Committee, the CBA
Secretary-General has written to its Full Members in Fiji saying that,
as the CBA Constitution requires Full Members to be based in a
Commonwealth country, it is not possible for them to continue in Full
Membership.

However, Affiliate Members do not have to be based in a Commonwealth
country, so Fiji organisations are offered the option of Affiliate
Membership.

Looking ahead to Copenhagen

As we approach the UN summit on Climate Change in Copenhagen Dec 7-18,

UNESCO is committed to support regional broadcasting unions and
international broadcasting associations to achieve the goals as
elaborated in the Paris Declaration. They are taking steps to
formulate and include concrete activities in their work plan for
2010-2011. There will include:

*       Train broadcast professionals in partnership with broadcasting
unions and associations to become specialist climate change reporters;
*       Prepare a publication for media professionals entitled Understanding
the Climate Change Debate and Negotiations;

*       Use UNESCO Audiovisual E-platform to facilitate networking and
exchange of climate change related content among broadcasters.
