[pima.nius] Seeking Pacific girls born in September 1995

9:52 AM |

Are you a Pacific mum or do you have a friend who gave birth to a girl-child in or close to September 1995? Or are you a Pacific girl born in September 1995? Want to share your hopes and dreams, your realities and challenges?
I'd really like to hear from you on a project in development called Beijing's daughters: long road to equality which I'm doing as part of guaging how far we have come since the Pacific went to Beijing, China, all those years ago.....and came back with the global promise to equality known only as the BPA...or the Beijing Platform for Action.

If it's news to you, or you need to refresh your memory, check out http://www.un.org/womenwatch/daw/beijing/platform/declar.htm

Next year it will be 15 years since the Pacific and the world endorsed the BPA and our leaders signed off on the Declaration. The annual CSW meeting is themed as a Beijing+15 report card event, although 2010 should be UNGASS time for gender equality.

To add to the Pacific contribution on how far we have come, and mapping where we go next, I am keen to develop angles on the critical areas of concern through the eyes of the girl-children born as the world 'birthed' the Beijing Declaration, and their parents. In that regard, your insights and sharing would be of great help.

Thanks for sharing with relevant Pacific networks.

Your welcome participation, questions and support is so critical to making this happen. Please write to me offlist at lisa.lahari@gmail.com
