Hundreds of Pacific islanders in Australian jails
Updated May 27, 2010 17:07:13
At any given time, hundreds of young Pacific Islanders are in custody in Australia. In fact, in New South Wales alone, six hundred young Pacific Islanders have been jailed for various offences. It's an issue that's worrying police, prison officials and leaders from the wider Pacific community in Australia. But, it's hoped a forum being planned in Sydney will help tackle the problem. I spoke to Kalisi Bese from the Department of Corrective Services in New South Wales - and began by asking about the planned seminar on Pacific youth offenders.
