PIMA Statement: Tuesday 15 June 2010
The Pacific Island Media Association (PIMA) of New Zealand wish to congratulate Samoan journalist and NZ Herald reporter, Vaimoana Tapaleao, who won a Qantas Media Award last Friday for Best Junior Reporter.
Her portfolio of stories included on-the-spot coverage of the tsunami in Samoa and a report remembering the individuals lost in the sinking in Tonga of the ferry Princess Ashika.
This is a celebration not just for Vaimoana but also her family, colleagues, past and present employers and other Pacific journalists.
We wish her all the best with her career and will continue to support her.
