[pima.nius] China is in the House and talking business

5:10 PM |

Vice-president Xi Jinping of China arrives in Auckland on Thursday for a three-day visit, bringing more than 100 senior business leaders with him.

The trip is the latest of a series of contacts in recent years that include a visit by President Hu Jintao.

Vice-president Xi is to address a seminar on free trade and also visit Fisher & Paykel Appliance.

Several agreements will be signed during the visit, including an endorsement of bilateral progress.

The visit is being welcomed by political and business leaders, who say the Free Trade Agreement signed in 2008 has brought dividends to both countries.

China has passed Japan and the United States to become New Zealand's second biggest trading partner after Australia.
