Tomorrow - Thursday, January 21st -  a media briefing will take place in
Australia (ADB office), Fiji (ADB office), New Zealand (UNICEF office),
Samoa (UNDP office), PNG (ADB office) and Vanuatu (UNICEF office).

Journalists from these countries will be given the opportunity to ask the
UNICEF Chief of Policy, Advocacy, Planning and Evaluation (PAPE), Dr. Will
Parks and ADB Public Financial Management Officer, Lai Tora, and Ms.
Georgina Bonin, Acting UNDP Resident Coordinator (Samoa), will be
addressing media partners on the Pacific Conference on the Human Face of
the Global Economic Crisis.

Unfortunately with six countries participating in the video/tele-conference
there is not enough space for another individual line. But we would like to
hear questions from the rest of the Pacific. Therefore if you have any
burning questions for the panel, we can ask on your behalf.

From February 10-12, 2010, 220 delegates will attend the Pacific Conference
on the Human Face of the Global Economic Crisis in Vanuatu. The delegates
attending originate from: 17 countries; regional heads of organisations
(eg. Dr Jimmie Rodgers (SPC) Neroni Slade (PIFS) and Professor Rajesh
Chandra (USP); almost all UN agencies based in the region including high
level UN staff from NY (e.g. Helen Clark (UNDP Administrator), Noleen
Heyzer (Under Secretary General of the UN and the Executive Secretary of
the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific), and Saad
Houry (UNICEF Deputy Executive Director); development partners (bilaterals,
multi-laterals, Bretton Woods Institutes, and NGOs); children and young
people.
