[pima.nius] PR: TVNZ's Flagship Maori News Programme - Te Karere Goes to the Pacific

2:18 PM |

For the first time TVNZ's flagship Māori daily news programme Te Karere will be beamed out to the Pacific via satellite.   This is part of an ongoing strategy to provide relevant and interesting content for our Pacific Service broadcasters.

Te Karere is one of our longest standing Māori news programmes in te Reo Māori. This year it moved from 15 minutes to a new half-hour format which includes in-depth interviews with politicians, commentators and newsmakers.

I am happy also to advise local youth show I AM TV is returning to the service.  The one-hour show caters to youth or rangatahi giving a contemporary view of issues that interest rangatahi while including some te reo Māori and tikanga content.

The Pacific Service currently provides ONE News at 6pm and Tagata Pasifika [as well as a selection of other TVNZ programmes at times] to 18 Pacific broadcasters across the Pacific.

Te Karere will start broadcasting daily from 7pm today followed by I AM TV on Saturday at 7.30pm.
