NZ DIPLOMA PROVIDES PACIFIC JOURNALISM BOOST
AUCKLAND (RA Online/Pacific Media Watch): A new Pacific media course has opened for enrolments for next year at the Auckland University of Technology in New Zealand.
The one-year Graduate Diploma in Pacific Journalism will offer credits for Pacific language skills, and try to boost the number of trained Pacific journalists in the region.
John Utanga is chairman of AUT's Pacific Media Centre and a senior journalist on TVNZ's Tagata Pasifika programme.
He explains why there was a need for a graduate journalism program focused on the Pacific. [While the course is designed for Pacific journalists in NZ, it is also open to regional Pacific journalists and students.]
Presenter: Nasya Bahfen
Speaker: John Utanga, chairman of AUT's Pacific Media Centre and senior journalist on TVNZ's Tagata Pasifika programme
