The future of the controversial Pacific Events Centre stage two project looks increasingly uncertain after a Manukau City Council committee voted not to include it in the council's 10-year plan.
Policy and activities committee members voted 10-3 yesterday to turn down a council officers' recommendation to include its funding in the long-term council community plan.
The council had been considering contributing $40 million to the project through a targeted rate. Councillor Michael Williams moved the motion to decline. No reason was given. It will now go to the full council meeting on June 16 for debate and a decision.
