Updated October 12, 2010 17:03:48

Production is about to get underway of the first feature film shot entirely in Samoa, in the Samoan language and with a Samoan cast.

O Le Tulafale, or The Orator, is the directing debut for Samoan born and raised filmmaker Tauti Tusi Tamasese.

It's described as the story of a small man with a big heart who must find the strength to speak up for those he loves.

In a statement, Samoa's Deputy Prime Minister Misa Telefoni says the film will bring the finest Samoan traditions into the international spotlight.

The Orator is financed by the New Zealand Film Commission and it's produced by Catherine Fitzgerald.

Presenter: Joanna McCarthy
Speaker: Catherine Fitzgerald, producer of The Orator
