[pima.nius] PIMA Mourns the passing of Ken Makaola

8:32 PM |

Ken Makaola.    Passed away suddenly after a short illness on Sunday 30th August, aged 36 years.

Ken was one of the few bilingual Niue broadcasters working in New Zealand media.  He'd been trained by Susuna Hukui and had worked at the Pacific Media Network since it's inception, working on the Niue shows and day time shows.   He became a well known voice to daytime listeners on both Radio 531 pi and Niu FM.    His friendly warm personality was well liked by many of his listeners. He also worked in news at Pacific Radio News on the Network.
He had been studying part time; juggling work with raising two young children, when he recently found he'd passed his papers for his Communications degree at AUT.  He was to graduate later this year.  Ken will be sadly missed by all his friends in Pacific media.   Ken's funeral will be Saturday 5th September, 11am.   Manukau Memorial Gardens, Puhinui Road, Papatoetoe.

Endz.
