Tonga's parliament is debating a controversial bill that would force public servants to resign, before contesting an election. Currently public servants must take a leave of absence, before running as candidates. The Tongan Democratic Labor Party is opposed to the changes, saying they are unconstitutional. The government says the change is necessary to push forward with reforms, ahead of this year's first democratic election in the kingdom.
