New leader and fresh start for Cook Islands' ruling party

The ruling Cook Islands Democratic Party has elected a new leader.

Deputy Prime Minister, Robert Wigmore will take over from Sir Terepai Maoate.

The party has been facing deep divisions since last year, with supporters split between followers of Mr Maoate and the prime minister, Jim Marurai.
